Letters, calligraphy, and design together create a visual interpretation for modern and ancient texts alike, bringing life to the words in ways that computer fonts (generally) cannot. Every breath, every heartbeat of the calligrapher becomes part of each hand-lettered word.
This belief in the power of the visual word guides Laura to weekly create hand-lettered designs following the Revised Common Lectionary, in use by churches of various denominations including Lutheran, Episcopal, and Methodist.
Having had the honor of studying with such calligraphy greats as Donald Jackson, creator of the Saint John’s Bible, and several master calligraphers and theologians, Laura also gives presentations on art and theology.
Please see the Teaching Schedule page for upcoming classes, workshops, and Laura’s feature on the Holden Village podcast discussing calligraphy and spirituality.
